HYPERLOTUS II

3D Motion
After Effects

"In the year 2037, advances in plant biology have rendered normal flowers to be mutated into new, highly-efficient, organisms. Flowers that have taken on these new found traits have been termed "Hyperlotus" flowers - due to their vibrant aesthetics and great need for water."

HYPERLOTUS II is the sequel to a personal project I completed a few years ago titled HYPERLOTUS. The original project was a showcase of my skills in Cinema 4D through abstract digital flora - but shortly after that project I found myself wanting to push my 3d limit further, beyond the scope of Cinema 4D.

This challenge began with the discovery of Houdini - a node based program that allows artists to manipulate individual attributes in 3d at a very low level. HYPERLOTUS II is the showcase project for what I have learned in Houdini - covering my knowledge of SOPs, KineFx, Vellum DOPs, and other fun Houdini techniques.

The following artworks were created in Houdini, rendered in Redshift, and post processed in After Effects.
